- You don’t choose your brand. Your brand will develop over time as your clients pick you. Your brand will be built around your client base.
- Believe in your own brand. If you don't, no one else will.
- Be consistent with your brand. Keep the same logo and color all the time.
- Be consistent with your image. Are you selling a high end product but have low quality marketing materials? Everything you give out is reflection of your business.
- Cross promote with the business next door. The customer has already made the trip to your neighbor; increase your chances of them visiting you as much as you can.
- Ask for referrals. Everyone knows someone that needs your product or service.
- Participate in local events.
- Get testimonials. It’s almost impossible to get testimonials. When you get a compliment, ask them if you can quote them and use that as your testimonial.
- Promote yourself as often as you can afford. Even when you’re busy. If Coca Cola stopped advertising when they thought they'd hit their prime they would've settle for $100 million in revenue
- Use different mediums. When people see your name advertised in two different places, they are more than twice as likely to become a customer.
- Repeat, repeat, repeat. Studies show someone has to see your brand 7 times to act on it.
